My Experience:

Tri Nature’s award winning Alpha Plus Laundry Powder has no fillers or extenders, it is 100%  concentrate and it dissolves completely in water and rinses away.

There is nothing in Tri Nature laundry products to irritate the skin or harm the environment.  There are no phosphates, nitrates, zeolites, chlorine, bleaches, petrochemicals, or any other chemical nasties.

Fillers and extenders are commonly used in most laundry products to bulk out the product without the expense of an active ingredient, to “fill” the bucket, so to speak, and dilute down the active ingredients.

Fillers are often made from things that don’t dissolve (I have heard crushed light globes and bone but I have never been able to prove or disprove this), so apart from leaving the visible residue (powder streaks), fillers get stuck in the fabric of clothes and can irritate the skin as well as wearing fabrics and building up in (and wrecking) your machine.

You will not have these issues with Tri Nature’s Alpha Plus range.  Your clothes will be brighter once all the fillers and extenders from previous products are washed out. Your machine will last longer without any of the clogging caused by other products.

I recommend you purchase the bucket first up, as it is moisture proof. If moisture gets into the powder, it will activate in the bag and become less effective in the wash.  Once you have the bucket, you purchase the soft pack refills.

Directions for Use:

I recommend, the first time you purchase Tri Nature laundry powder, you finish off whatever your are currently using, descale your machine thoroughly (to get rid of any build up of fillers and extenders and silicone from previous products) and then start using Tri Nature and only use Tri Nature.  This will give you a proper feel for how well this powder really works.

If you don’t descale your machine, or if you chop and change products, you risk having the Tri Nature powder break down any build up of fillers/extenders/silicone in your machine and have this previous-product-sludge come out on your clothing.  This can make it look as though the Tri Nature powder is leaving chunks of gunk on your clothes, when it’s your old products that are actually causing the issue.

This powder is suitable for use in top or front loaders using hot or cold water.  As the products are made in a hard water area, I have found that instructions on usage quantities can be halved in town water areas.  People on rainwater have found they can use even less.

At full retail and the halved usage amounts, cost works out to around $0.46 per load in a top loader (1 scoop) and $0.23 in a front loader (1/2 scoop).  High efficiency washers use front loader quantities.  A scoop is included.

From the 1kg bag I get 40 washes in a top loader and 80 washes in a front loader.

From the 2kg bag/bucket I get 80 washes in a top loader and 160 washes in a front loader.

From the 10kg bag/bucket I get 400 washes in a top loader and 800 washes in a front loader.

Fragrances:

You have the option of Original or Ocean Fresh. The Original powder has no smell.  I recommend the Ocean Fresh if you like your clean washing to have a smell and in households with lots of males.

The essential oils used in the essential oil based fragrances for the Alpha Plus Laundry Powders are below.

• Alpha Plus Laundry Powder (Original) – Celery, Basil, Carrot, Chamomile, Cedarwood, Coriander, Orange, Pine, Sage, Eucalyptus and Lavender
• Alpha Plus Laundry Powder (Ocean Fresh) – Patchouli and Sandalwood

All of the pure herbal extracts and many of the naturally derived materials Tri Nature use have their own distinctive and often not very pleasant smell. Most of them are certainly not attractive enough to satisfy the consumer’s requirements for pleasant aroma. Tri Nature therefore add essential oil blends or essential oil based fragrances to the products so that a commercially acceptable result is obtained.   All fragrances used by Tri Nature are phthalate-free.

Ingredients:

Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Silicate, Sodium Citrate, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate, Sodium Gluconate, Optical Brightener (UV Absorber), Sodium Polyacrylate, Carboxymethyl Cellulose, Soapwort Extract, Mint Balm Extract, Essential oil based fragrance.

Optical Brighteners:

Tri Nature has researched the field of optical brighteners exhaustively and found no basis for any suspicion that the use of their chosen brightening agents can cause any detrimental effects. Tri Nature are unable to categorically indicate the toxicological nature of all brightening systems but believe that most modern agents are innocuous and Tri Nature certainly have no doubt as to the safety of the products they use. Tri Nature’s optical brighteners are classified as nontoxic to animals and to the environment. They are biodegradable and because of their efficiency are used in only small amounts. The argument of some seems to revolve around their non-essential or cosmetic nature. The fact is that a product that does not display the brightness and whiteness characteristics that optical brighteners give is much less acceptable to consumers, no matter how efficiently they clean or how ‘environmentally responsible’ they purport to be.
